Yacht Design Trends: What the 2027 Order Books Are Telling Us
Explorer profiles, glazed superstructures, and hybrid drivetrains — the signals emerging from confirmed orders at the leading yards.
Three signals dominate the 2027 order books at the leading European yards. First, the explorer profile — near-vertical bows, dark paint, and walk-around decks — has crossed decisively into the mainstream 30–50 metre segment.
Second, full-height glazing on the main salon has become effectively standard above 35 metres, driven by structural adhesives that no longer force a compromise between view and stiffness.
Third, hybrid drivetrains are moving from novelty to expectation. Buyers are asking for silent-mode overnight capability as a baseline; yards without a credible answer are losing tender processes they would have won 24 months ago.
