Onboard Entertainment: Beyond the Cinema Room

Henrik Solberg·May 15, 2026 5 min read

From spa-grade wellness suites to open-water toy garages — how the guest experience has moved past the flat-screen.

Onboard entertainment has moved decisively outdoors and into the water. The most-used spaces on today's charter yachts are not the cinema rooms but the beach clubs, the toy garages, and the open-air gyms on the sun deck.

Expect fleets of Seabobs, foil boards, e-foils, inflatable slides, and a diving compressor as standard on any serious 30-metre-plus programme. Add a padel court projected onto the helipad and the request book fills for the season.

Wellness has become a category of its own: hammams, cold plunges, IV drip suites, and Pilates reformers built into convertible spaces. The best chief stewardesses now hire from spa hospitality, not silver service.
