Yacht Valuation Guide: What Your Vessel Is Actually Worth

Comparables, condition, refit history, and the intangible premium of provenance — how professional valuations are built.

A defensible valuation triangulates three inputs: recent closed comparables of the same builder and generation, adjusted replacement cost less depreciation, and current market depth for the specific model.

Condition and refit history can swing valuation by 20% either way. A recent full paint job, current class certificates, and a fresh 10-year engine survey materially lift the number; deferred maintenance and expiring MCA compliance materially depress it.

Provenance matters at the top of the market. Single-owner history, meticulous logs, and a known captain-managed programme command a premium that spreadsheets alone will never capture — a seasoned valuer will.
